Laura Heffern, NP

Laura Heffern, DNP, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in primary care. Laura believes it’s a gift to help people realize their potential to live full, healthy lives. She was drawn to primary care because she likes being the first call, the cheerleader and coordinating care with specialists. She sees patients over the age of 1 for well and acute visits as well as the management of chronic illnesses like Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, migraines, anxiety and depression.

Laura earned her Master of Science in Nursing and Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Colorado Anschutz. She’s also received special training in Type 2 diabetes from the American Diabetes Association. She is an American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) member.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, their son, and their Golden Retriever. She likes to spend time outdoors doing all the things Colorado has to offer.

Laura is committed to listening to patient and family concerns and using evidence-based protocols to diagnose and treat. She believes it’s as much her job to start medication as to wean patients off medications. Laura will work with you and a multidisciplinary team to advocate on your behalf and will invite you into the medical decision-making process.
