AdventHealth Redmond recently named Dave Tomey, MD, as Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Dr. Tomey will replace outgoing CMO Julie Barnes, who retired in August. Dr. Tomey will step into the role on November 6.
Dr. Tomey has worked as an emergency medicine physician in Floyd County for over 20 years and has served as the medical director of the AdventHealth Redmond emergency department since 2015 through TeamHealth. Dr. Tomey graduated in 1994 from Indiana University School of Medicine and finished his residency in family medicine at Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Indiana in 1997. He practiced family and emergency medicine for three years before specializing in full time emergency in 2000 for the next 23 years. Dr. Tomey attained his Master’s in Business Administration from Auburn University in 2014.
Dr. Tomey has enjoyed living and working in Rome for the past 22 years and appreciates the small town feel and connection to his community, as he interacts with patients in the grocery store or in town and understands the high calling of treating patients like friends and family.
“I’m excited to join our leadership team and to work with our talented physicians, nurses and hospital staff with a focus on maintaining the high quality patient care that AdventHealth Redmond is known for,” said Dr. Tomey.
Dr. Tomey enjoys spending time with his wife, Linda and their four sons, two daughter-in-law’s, one granddaughter and two more grandchildren who are on the way.
