AdventHealth has named Bruce Bergherm president/CEO of AdventHealth Tampa, effective June 17. He will continue to serve as senior executive officer of acute care services for the West Florida Division, in addition to his new role. Bergherm will report to David Ottati, president/CEO of AdventHealth’s West Florida Division. He replaces Denyse Bales-Chubb, who is pursuing other opportunities within the organization.
“AdventHealth has been blessed to see tremendous growth in the West Florida Division, allowing us to provide more services that meet the needs of this growing population,” said AdventHealth President/CEO Terry Shaw. “With Bruce’s expertise and commitment to our mission, I know that AdventHealth Tampa and its sister facilities within the county are well poised to help us stay true to our mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ.”
In this expanded role, Bergherm will remain a member of the executive cabinet and continue to oversee growth and strategy of the service lines in the West Florida Division. Additionally, Bergherm will lead the Hillsborough County market (AdventHealth Tampa, AdventHealth Carrollwood and AdventHealth Riverview) and will provide oversight of AdventHealth Connerton, the division’s long-term acute care facility in Pasco County. This will enhance the West Florida Division’s ability to further expand its tertiary market position while strengthening performance and revenue growth in this highly competitive market.
“I am so grateful to be a part of AdventHealth and lead a growing community. I look forward to working alongside our physicians, team members and community partners to extend Christ’s healing ministry and deliver whole-person care — every person, every time,” said Bergherm.
In addition, AdventHealth’s West Florida Division is reorganizing its market leadership structure to advance a more connected vision for the division.
Jennifer Wandersleben, president and CEO of the Heartland Region of the West Florida Division, will now have leadership oversight for the hospitals in Pasco and Pinellas counties (AdventHealth North Pinellas, AdventHealth Dade City, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel and AdventHealth Zephyrhills), in addition to her current responsibilities for Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties.
AdventHealth Wesley Chapel President and CEO Erik Wangsness will provide direct executive leadership for AdventHealth North Pinellas. Jason Dunkel, president and CEO of AdventHealth North Pinellas, will report to Wangsness.
The Hillsborough County market; along with the newly defined market of Hardee, Highlands, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties; as well as the Marion County market make up the three key areas in the West Florida Division.
“As our division continues to grow, it is important we are set up to best meet the needs of the communities we serve, ensuring they have easy access to quality, whole-person care,” said Ottati. “I am excited to see Bruce, Jennifer, Erik and their teams continue to extend our mission and expand our reach across the markets they’re leading.”
