Christine Bond was awarded Gordon Hospitals prestigious Extra Mile Award. Bond is a nurse navigator at Harris Radiation Therapy Center and was nominated for her compassion toward patients and her dedication to extending the healing ministry of Christ.
This special award was created by members of the hospitals Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded monthly to deserving employees selected by the hospitals directors.
I feel humbly honored to be recognized for this award, said Bond, who has been employed by Gordon Hospital for nearly 4 years. I work with such a great team and with a leader who believes in me and my capabilities as a nurse. I give all the glory and honor to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for directing me to such a rewarding profession. I feel very blessed to work for such a wonderful organization where I feel the presence of the Lord daily.
Christine is always willing to provide excellent and compassionate care where ever she is needed, said Lanell Jacobs, director of oncology services. A couple of weeks ago, we had an inpatient who needed chemo. Christine was willing to work extra hours and come in on the weekend to ensure the patient received necessary care. Patients often share expressions of appreciation for the care they have received from Christine. Her gentle and kind demeanor is always present as she works with her patients. Behind her quiet exterior is a work ethic of the highest standard and a willingness to be used to further the healing ministry of Christ.
Outside of her profession, Bond enjoys traveling to visit her daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. She also enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her husband and two dogs.
