While AdventHealth Care Crew is a new name for AdventHealth team members who volunteer their time at community events, the story behind the organization’s volunteer effort spans decades. Committed to improving the health, prosperity and well-being of the communities it serves, AdventHealth’s team members at all levels of the organization dedicate their time and talents every year to address a wide variety of local needs.
With the goal of deepening that commitment to community well-being and extending care to help people feel whole, the Care Crew theme ensures a consistent and recognizable image for the health system’s volunteer initiatives.
“This effort signifies a renewal of our focus and dedication to building our volunteering culture,” said AdventHealth Executive Director of Community Advocacy Andrew Mwavua. “It is core to who we are and demonstrates our service standards and aspirations. It also reminds us of how we want to show up for each other and the communities we serve."
"We have a shared value to seek, be and do good, and this guides our work at AdventHealth."
Much like the care provided to patients, volunteering at AdventHealth is driven by a spirit of teamwork and a heart of service. Team members work together during every volunteer activity to put smiles on the faces of the people at the center of need.

“Volunteering is an integral part of our team culture as it serves as an opportunity for teams to come together and give back to our communities,” said AdventHealth Senior Vice President of Advocacy and Public Policy Mike Griffin. “We are committed to living out our mission in a variety of ways, including through volunteering.”
Added Mwavua, “The essence of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ is love, and spreading love is not only done during our regular work shifts. We have a shared value to seek, be and do good, and this guides our work at AdventHealth.”
Team member volunteers consistently express that they are inspired by the idea that their actions contribute to something larger than themselves — the greater good of communities. Over the years, their impact has been felt by individuals, families and community partners across the country.
One of those partners is The Mustard Seed of Central Florida. “AdventHealth team members are compassionate and involved hands-on,” said Executive Director Kathy Baldwin. “They have assisted the clients we serve by loading trucks and building dressers, among other things. Their work has left an impression with many in our community.”
The new “Care Crew” brand will be rolled out in phases, beginning with AdventHealth’s corporate services and the Central Florida Division, with plans to launch in other markets later in the year.
