Free Class Prepares You for Breastfeeding
Zephyrhills, Florida… June 26, 2019… Certified Lactation Counselors from The Baby Place® at AdventHealth Zephyrhills, 7050 Gall Blvd., are offering a free class called “Breastfeeding Basics” from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, July 15, in the hospital’s Cypress Room. The class is ideal for expectant moms who’d like to learn more about breastfeeding and get their questions answered.
“Learning about breastfeeding before your delivery can help you and your baby be more comfortable and successful once you begin,” said Dana Crowder, RN, AdventHealth Zephyrhills Women’s Health Navigator. “The class will give you the A to Zs of breastfeeding including knowing your baby’s feeding cues, how to latch properly, and what to expect during the first few weeks.” According to Crowder, breast milk is the best nutrition that moms can give their infants because it contains all the necessary vitamins and nutrients that baby needs and it’s easy to digest.
Pediatric medical studies have shown that breast milk contains disease-fighting substances that help protect your newborn from SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), diabetes, ear and respiratory infections. Breast milk also helps with your baby’s brain development, creates a unique physical and emotional bond that lowers the risk for postpartum depression, and increases weight loss after pregnancy.
Reservations for the class are required. Please visit the news/events page at adventhealthzephyrhills.com to register or call Crowder at Call813-779-6741.
