Niki Smith, RN, has been named AdventHealth Gordon’s latest DAISY Award recipient. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human tasks nurses perform every day.
Smith, a progressive care unit (PCU) nurse at AdventHealth Gordon, was nominated by two coworkers who said the following:
“Niki always goes above and beyond not only for her patients but her coworkers too. She silently helps the techs by giving her patients a bath and doing their vitals while they are busy. She does whatever she needs to make sure the patient gets the best care. No matter how many times I call her during a shift, she is always so humble and kind.”
“She is what I want to be as a nurse. She deserves more than an award in my opinion. Her patients are never left wondering why their nurse hasn’t been in the room, and she explains things in a way they can understand. I always tell my patients that have her as a nurse, you have a great nurse today, and you will love her.’”
If you or a loved one have been a patient at AdventHealth Gordon and would like to nominate an extraordinary nurse for the DAISY Award, please call Call706-602-7800 x2258.
