ORANGE CITY, Fla., September 16, 2016 On August 16, Final Mile Race Management presented the Florida Hospital Fish Memorial Foundation with a check for nearly $5,000, all of which was raised during the first-ever Nurses Run 5K.
The donation will be split evenly to benefit the hospitals nursing education fund, as well as the Community Life Center Outreach Services of Deltona. The Centers mission is to help the individuals and families in Deltona who live in poverty and assist with basic needs including food, clothing, shelter and utilities.
Florida Hospital Fish Memorial hosted the inaugural event during National Nurses Week on May 7 for more than 160 runners. The 5K was developed by Florida Hospital Fish Memorial emergency department manager Wendy Johnson to encourage nurses to lead a healthy, active lifestyle.
We are so proud of Wendy and our entire nursing team. What an incredible way to raise funds for Nursing Education while also lifting up our community! When our team gets behind an event, it can only lead to success! said Maureen McLain Mercho, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial Foundation executive director.
